NPR celebrates Women’s History Month with the release of the new compilation American Chronicles: Women’s Equality. The cd recognizes monumental moments in the struggle for equal rights for women. The cd includes the wonderful Weekend Edition feature on the history of the birth control pill. We take a look back as Liane Hansen speaks with Time magazine’s Nacy Gibbs about the Pill’s introduction in 1960, and its effects since on sex, reproductive freedom, and the women’s movement. It is one of many highlights you will find on the new disc.
